Courtney's Blog July 11th, Day 6 of the Epic McFarland Journey!

Today was a nice recharging and relaxing day. We decided to get some laundry done, go swimming, and just hang out for the morning. At breakfast, the hotel clerk came to our table and fell in love with the kids (obvi). We got some free treats, and she promised them ice cream after the pool! Imagine how exciting that was for mom and dad who were already trying to tell them they couldn't go swimming right away and had to wait. The pool was great and we had such a nice time "relaxing" by dragging the kids around on our backs and having chicken fights. Of course, I can't complain, because while I escaped to do laundry, Adam was stuck in the pool for another 45 minutes as one of the kids floaty toys. After swimming, just as promised, the kids enjoyed their ice cream sandwiches and they even got some in their mouth. The majority of it ended up on the hotel couch. It's your own fault as far as I can tell, hotel lady.

PoolTime!

After swimming, we headed over to POPS, and had lunch. This place had tons of amazing sodas, hundreds of different flavors from all over the country. They even had some flavors that humans shouldn't consume, like "ranch" and "bacon". We enjoyed our time, and decided to sit outside and work on our freckles and sunburns (that's all we do except for Adam).

After lunch, we headed over to visit a friend of the family. We were welcomed just like our own home and we had a wonderful time catching up, enjoying a real home cooked meal, and some delicious wine. I may or may not have drank a LOT of that wine. While drinking, we sat outside and ran the dog and the kids until they were tired. We used tactics like "Let's see how fast you can run around that tree and back" and "hey, go see what that brown thing over there is!". It worked beautifully and all three kids (Abby, Gideon and Windy the dog) were exhausted. Off to bed. I don't think Gideon has gone to sleep when we put him to bed on this trip yet...until tonight. Dead asleep within seconds. A nice meal, some time out of the car and lots of fresh air.

Summary:

Lots of relaxing today. Water in the ears, and spaghetti in the tummy. Abby met the first dog she liked, Windy!
