Wild!

This morning, we learned that Gideon lost his phone charger. First lost item of the road trip!
Anyway, our hotel was right next to a Krisy Kreme, so we got our favorite donuts for breakfast. They were everything we remembered, and we even tried the new chocolate glazed that was absolutely stellar.
We saw two pretty lakes this morning, both of which Mom stopped to take pictures of. As well as that wonderful luck, this morning we saw so much wildlife. There was a bald eagle, a moose and four or five deer. Not to mention we saw a mother and child osprey in their nest and a family of turkeys with tons of little little turkeys. All of them were so cute!
After our wildlife encounters, we saw a few more lakes and rode through a beautiful forested area, which led us to crossing the border into Idaho! Somewhere after that, we passed a time zone. Three hour difference!
Even with one hour back, it was almost time for lunch. Dad looked up options in the next populated area, and Mom decided we should try a deli in the area. We pulled into the parking lot for the place and there were two buildings. One was the associated coffee joint and the other the associated fitness store. we figured if it were to be somewhere, it would be in the coffee shop. We sent Dad inside, but he said there wasn't one there. He said the coffee shop had pre-made sandwiches, but nothing good. Instead, we decided to try a local tavern. When we first entered, the only waitress in the joint informed us that the kitchen was "on a forty five minute wait" because they "had a large catering order." We were all uncomfortable leaving at that point, so we sat and began ordering. It definitely didn't feel like it took her 45 minutes to serve us. We got some cheese curds first, which were so crispy and creamy. . . they were delicious. For a meal I got mac and cheese, and it literally tasted exactly like Panera's old recipe. It was amazing.
Back in the car, I decided to take a nap for a while which was nice. I got a little teased for sleeping in the first place, but all in all it was worth it. I read for a little after that, too, which was relaxing.
We got to our hotel around four, and after a little struggle to find where we're supposed to park, we were all settled in! The man who checked us in was, as Mom put hit "Definately a hired actor playing the role of gay check in man." The hotel has a really cool style, it's like one of those more retro-y hotels but in a fancy way. It's one of those places that you walk into and go "I wonder what all the fanciness is hiding." Our adjoined room is also really nice, except for the fact that Gideon and I's wall actually consists of a picture of teenage men with their groins at level with our beds. How nice. To make matters worse, we happen to know the picture was taken in 1927, which means these men are either insanely old or dead. Great.
For dinner, Mom and Dad found a place that was woman owned and lgbtq+ friendly and decided to go, but they wouldn't tell me anything else about the place. We walked over to it, and dangggg it was the cutest little place. It was called the Gilded Unicorn and I took a picture of the sign. Mom tried to open the door, but there was a note on it saying that they were closed just today. Oh, well, Dad chose another place that was a longer walk away from the Gilded Unicorn, and it was pretty neato too. My water tasted weird so I gave it to Dad and he didn't taste anything . . . odd. As a meal I got a BBQ pulled pork grilled cheese, which was pretty good. The more important part, though, was my side. My side mac and cheese was absolutely to die for. So. Good.
After that we went back to the hotel, where Gideon cast us all as roles in his script that he's been writing since yesterday. The auditions and rehearsals were all just improvisation, which was a mess but kinda fun. It was getting late and the acting wore us all out so much we decided it was time to go to bed.
