We found out yesterday that there was a Krispy Kreme in the parking lot next door to the hotel and decided that we were going to have that for breakfast. That's where we started the day, with some delicious and fresh doughnuts. We head out of town on Route 2 determined to make it to Spokane today and are immediately greeted with road construction again. This one wasn't as bad though and afterwards we were given the sight of a man walking with a cross and an American flag who was flagellating himself with towel as he walked. Still not sure what this was about.

As we leave the suburban area for more of the rural space Court and I see a Bald Eagle soar across the road on its way to who knows what. Shortly afterwards we find a moose in a field on the side of the road chewing away, looking like one would expect a moose to look. We stop to get some pictures and by the time we have stopped and leave we have created a small traffic jam of other people stopping to take pictures of this handsome guy on the side of the road. Shortly after that there are some deer on the road. We have already had a more exciting day for wildlife than we had at Glacier the day before. There are more beautiful lakes and vistas as we drive through the mountains some more.

As part of the trip I had investigated original alignments of the highway and there is a big detour coming up. We have been keeping track of these by a line that I had added to the map in Google Maps but the problem is that this doesn't download onto the phone. When we lose internet after a while the line disappears. We start to take this adventure and shortly after the start my line disappears but Court's doesn't so we keep going. It was a long, slow drive but beautiful complete with a new set of deer. We decide to get lunch in the city of Bonners Ferry since it looks pretty good sized and there's a deli there we decide to try. As Court pointed out, it went so well the last time we had subs. We arrive at the place where the deli is supposed to be and can only find an outdoors shop and a coffee shop. I guess today isn't the day that we tempt fate with another sub.

We head back in town for a sit down lunch at Mugsy's Tavern and Grill. As we head in there's a woman sitting on the patio with her pet bird who's perched on its own water glass and drinking from it. As we head in we are informed that the kitchen is backed up like 40 minutes so it make take some time to eat but since we have a lite travel day we decide to take advantage of it and eat here. We order the food and it's pretty good. Abigail falls in love again with the mac and cheese and Gideon says that this burger makes it into his top 10. It does take a long time but not as long as they had made it seem it would. Not a lot more happens on the drive from here to the hotel.

We arrive at the hotel and it is a nice building. Looks like it might be historic but who the heck knows? We can't figure out where to park for this so we park in what's labeled as a loading/unloading zone and head in to ask them what the deal is. They tell us that we did the right thing and we get all checked in for the night. We have been waiting for dinner for this night since we booked the hotel because it is just down the street from a place called the Guilded Unicorn. Now, those of you that know Abigail know that unicorns are one of her favorite things in life. Not only does this place have a great name for her but it has Unicorn Mac and Cheese! We head out for an early dinner since we are worried that they might get busy and not be able to seat us. When we arrive there's a note on the door. They are closed due to some unexpected maintenance issue. So we decide to head down the other way to Watts 1903. We get the pretzel app which has some awesome beer cheese with it. Gideon gets the mac and cheese and loves it, the rest of us agree that it's great. Well all enjoy our dinners so hopefully the bad dinner streak is fully broken.

Back in the room again and Gideon has decided to cast us in some production that he's writing and posts an open audition call for the rolls. I think I spot the roll that he has in mind for me, a 50 year old father named Robert. Apparently all of this overeating on this trip has really added on the age as well as the weight. We do the auditions and get cast in our different roles. I of course get Robert as I expected but Gideon does throw us a curve ball and cast Abby as my wife and Court as the snotty teen. Gideon then instructs us that we will be doing the first episode of the show immediately and just kind of provides us with a basic idea of plot and walks away from it. Apparently we are now doing improv as well. A lot of laughs later we wrap up for the evening to rest for the next day.
