Bloody Mary, Travel Day and Lights Out

In August, 2020, we went on a vacation to Vermont. I had never been to Vermont despite living here my whole life. On that trip, we discovered Grazers (see yesterday's blog) and The Friendly Toast where I had one of the best bloody Marys of my life. I have thought about that bloody Mary at least once a week since then and today, I get to have it again. The restaurant opens at 8am so naturally we get there at 7:30. It was worth the wait.

While we are there we also see that they have a special called "Waffle lotta Pride" which was a waffle with glitter frosting, rainbow sprinkles and rainbow candy so now you know what Abby got. The plan after breakfast was to head to an auto parts store and have them check what the code is on the check engine light. We head over and the guy at the register says they don't "do that anymore since COVID". He proceeds to give us a long lecture on how we can do it ourselves and blah blah. We head back to the van and call another store to see if they will do it. It rings once and Adam screams "IT'S GONE!" and I look down and the check engine light is off again! Online they said that you have to drive for awhile before the light will go off and sure enough it did. Another little thank you prayer, and we are on our way again! Today is another travel day. Just a bit of Route 2 and then we have to detour because Canada is being all sensitive and won't let us dirty americans in...
Which Way?

There are no stops today but we make an impromtu stop at a viewing area of Lake Champlain in VT. It was gorgeous and windy and beautiful and smelled salty like the ocean which made no sense. We all got lots of pictures (check out the pictures page). We continued onward on Route 90 (yes the same one as MA) except it was two lanes most of the 400 miles...On the way we played more trivia, did lots of reading, listened to a couple episodes of a funny podcast and stayed safe in the rain. We're all getting better at holding our pee and coordinating our bathroom breaks. We also hit the first 1,000 miles of the trip! We get to the hotel around 7:15 and pack it in for an early night. We have another travel day tomorrow until we can get back on Route 2 and the adventure truly continues. For now, I'm enjoying the heck out of a hotel room that smells like nothing (Amen) and a big comfy bed.

Summary: Travel day; no fights and no smells except a salty lake. Ended the day at Holiday Inn, Ashtabula, OH
