We get out on the road and almost immediately we see the road is closed. The cop is super rude and does that thing where he gets angry that you aren't speeding towards him fast enough so he starts flailing his arm trying to use centrifugal force to bring me to him faster. It's so frustrating because I am certain if I drive too fast towards him, he will get all rude and upset that I'm going too fast near his precious-self. Anyhow this sends us on quite the detour (like 50 miles) but we go with the flow. We are still saying we finished Route 2 even if we didn't travel those 50 miles because we consider them non-existent at this point. Don't come at me. We are finishing this Route in its entirety. During this 50 mile detour, the low air pressure light came on again for one of the tires. I'm getting so used to seeing lights on the dashboard that at this point, I wear sunglasses even when it's not bright. At the end of the detour we find free, albeit, creepy air and fix the tire. (we = Adam)
The only real stop we have today is the Geographical Center of North America (yes, in ND). We have some discussions about how that makes sense once we realized we were talking about North America, not just the US, and we can agree this might be right. We get there and there is a rock formation statue:

Sidenote: In posting the link for this, I found out where we stopped is no longer the geographical center of North America since a new calculation in 2017. Ha. Let's pretend we didn't find that out.
Today's drive consisted of a ton of great shots and photos on the open road. I got an idea to stop and take unusual pictures in the road because it is so untraveled. The first one is below and I'm in love. We decide to do a series of them as we know we will experience the same empty roads in other states and for hundreds of miles to come. Keep your eye out!

We get back to the hotel and it's a two night stay. What a treat. Right now we have a rotation where we have an overnight bag where we pack all toiletries, bathing suits, clothes for three days and PJs. This allows us to only bring in the suitcases every third night. Tonight we get to bring in EVERYTHING and do some laundry and get caught up. It has been such a treat having the kids old enough to help on this trip. We never have to go back to the car for a second round and always get everything on the first trip!
After a delicious lunch, we are hoping to have a great dinner. See Adam's blog for information on that amazing lunch. Adam finds another joint for dinner that is a BBQ (Dave's something - See Adam's Blog). Not my favorite, but Adam and Abby love some good BBQ so we head out. Not a great first impression when we get there. I feel like I am in Oklahoma again...flies everywhere. The appetizers were delicious but dinner was just ok. Gideon loved his corn dogs but Abby and I weren't impressed with our BBQ meat on a piece of white bread. Yes for real. Just laying on an untoasted, raw piece of white bread. Hey, at least we're still being adventurous!
At the hotel we do laundry and wash the heck out of those bathing suits after last night's 'adventure'. Everyone is tired but we stay up a bit late updating blogs and photos and enjoying some non driving time together.
Summary: Blocked roads can't stop us. Weird BBQ can. Ended the day at the Holiday Inn Williston, ND.
