Today was a slow day, so we got up just in time to catch hotel breakfast. At breakfast, we solidified our plan for the day. Mom had to work, so me, Dad and Gid were on our own to try out something fun. We noticed there was an interactive art museum nearby, and I knew we had to go. Me and Mom went to something similar when we breifly went to Portland, Oregon this summer. It was awesome.
It was decided that was where we were going. We had some time to kill before it opened, though, so we got Mom a little treat from Starbucks to keep her work motivation going. If I got something too… that was only a matter of circumstance. We dropped that and some snacks off in case she needed to improvise lunch at the hotel if we weren't back yet. Then, we were on our way!
The drive to the display, Superblue, was about 45 minutes. Normally, I would easily pass this time by napping. However, now that Mom has caught up on blogging, I am painfully aware of Mom's car naps photo page. The photos in there are unforgivable and I refuse to feed anymore ammunition to that weapon. So I fought sleep and yapped the whole ride.
The whole place was so cool and we all had so much fun! The first room was an interactive display in which cycles of different flowers would grow, prosper then die when you interact with them! It was beautiful if a little depressing when all the flowers died. The next room was supposed to simulate walking through clouds! It could be hard to breathe or see deep within the clouds, but it was a really cool and fun activity to play with and dig your way through the clouds! Next was a room in which rain
was projected on the walls, and if you stood right in front of it, you would block the rain and allow the flowers to grow! After, a room in which you placed your hand under a light and a ton of LEDs above you would pulse to the beat of your own heart! Mine got faster once I saw it was working because I was so excited. It's hard to remember the order or all of them distinctly, but their was also a mist and laser show, UV graffiti and a lot of spotlights that followed you around! Even Patrick had a great time.
It was small, though, so we were outta there by lunchtime. We decided we could at least grab something for Mom who had been working while we all got to have fun. We are running out of options for things in our area to eat considering we haven't moved hotels in several days, so we settled on Sonic. We also swung by a CVS on the way back and got some hydration packets for Gideon, our first attempt at treating his little ailment.
A little context must be provided here. Mom and Dad's room has been having a little ant problem while we've been here, but it was never really bad enough to say anything. Apparently this morning, it was. Mom said she was slapping her legs mid meeting like a crazy person. So, she talked to the front desk and they're taking care of it. Which of course meant that after a little lobby picnic we all camped out in Me and Gideon's room for the afternoon. I started blogging for the day, the boys slept and Mom worked a little more. Then I took a quick power nap and it was off to our family event of the day: an escape room!
It was haunted doll shop themed so it was really cool! The receptionist was clearly in character because she might as well have been dead for how nice and helpful she was. But our game master was great and we had a great time! It's supposedly known for being difficult and we were very far from finishing it, but it was a fun and atmospheric play nonetheless! Plenty of jumpscares.
We were all indecisive about what we might want to eat afterwards and I wasn't particularly hungry, so we just headed back to the hotel… but it was a trap! When I went to get out of the car Mom said she was taking Gideon to urgent care but I couldn't be alone so Dad had to come in with me. Neither of us were very happy about that. She also absconded with the only key to Mom and Dad's hotel room, considering we already lost one, so we had to go up to the front desk and ask for a copy. All the snacks are in Mom and Dad's room, anyway.
The weather decided to be quite atmospheric, and me and Dad settled on their couch with a bin of GORP and binge watched Big Bang Theory until we heard updates from Gideon and Mom. Turns out, Gideon is just too tall for his blood! Too much him and not enough blood! But he is ok and just has to take things slow. They also said his blood sugar was a little low and he has to make sure to snack to keep up with his body's need!
Knowing everyone was healthy, I was ready for bed.
