As always today began with a hotel breakfast and then we were on our way. Our first stop of the day was Green Valley Book Fair. It was so massive and really fun to look around at all the books. It is a publisher overstock situation, too, so it's not the same books you always see which was very nice. Unfortunately it did not take us that look to look around, which caused a big argument between me and Mom. Whoops. My fault.
It turned out to be ok, though, because we found a neighborhood for Gideon to practice driving for a bit. He got really good at turning, which was a tough point for him before.
We grabbed lunch at Olive Garden, convinced Mom and Dad to get us more froyo and we were on our way to Shenandoah, where we would be staying for the next few nights. We were only 45 minutes out from the south gate, so the journey went quickly. Right before the south gate was a popcorn stand, though, so we had to stop and get some fun snacks. I got honey kettle corn, although I think the crowd favorite was smores. Gideon got blue raspberry and it was… well. Exactly as marketed. I don't think that is a good thing.
I drove us through Shenandoah and to the lodge, obviously taking every stop I could find. It was beautiful and we made sure to grab plenty of photos.
Once we got to our rooms me and Gideon ran out to the playground outside our rooms to folic for a bit, then it was time for dinner. We headed up to the visitor center near us to grab dinner and look around the shops. Gideon had been collecting tokens from each park, and we couldn't find his tokens there, so we decided to try a different center tomorrow.
We were all going to do a little hike up Stoney Man to watch the sunset, but Mom wasn't feeling well, so she stayed behind to take a nap. Problem being this left Gideon in charge of pace. Do not ever leave Gideon in charge of pace. Me and Dad were SWEATING. The view was pretty in the end, but too cloudy to really see any kind of sunset. That pretty much knocked me out, though, so it was bed time when we got back to the room.
