Today we woke up at 6:30 AM to get to breakfast by 7:30. We wanted to hit up the lodge breakfast before we left cause Mom was really hankering for pancakes. I packed up, said goodbye to the playground with Patrick, and we were on our way.
We finally got a table at the window for breakfast, which was a lovely view. The pancakes were delicious. Me and Mom stopped at the lodge coffee shop for coffee before our long drive, about 10 hours when it was first calculated this morning.
Then we were on our way! I had a short novella to finish on the drive, so I immediately locked in on that. By the time we got to our first gas station of the day, I was only 20 pages from being done. We swung by the rest rooms and grabbed some last minute snacks before we were off again!
A lot more of the same. Driving, reading, sleeping and watching Hunter Hunter. We have discovered, though, that google maps no longer calculates alternate routes while you're already driving. So, as Mom drove, Gideon recalculated the route and decided it was time to change routes to a shorter one. We made the change and were back on the way! Until we all needed the bathroom again, so we decided to stop for lunch. We decided on Shake Shack, placed an order and headed inside. Dad almost got in a fight with a man in the restaurant as well. Me and Mom grabbed the food and headed to the car to wait that one out… the guy decided to cool down in the end, though. I won't share any more details. Leave it to the imagination. Just let it be known, Dad was not the aggressor.
Of course, the meal put me asleep again, but when I woke up it was time for a Hunter Hunter binge session. During this session, 90 got backed up and we decided to take backroads home. This allowed me to get through another Hunter Hunter episode before we got home.
And that, folks, is the end of another great McFarland family road trip. We all took all our things inside, said hello to the cat, and enjoyed being home.
Nice Deed of the Day: Gideon ducked a Jeep!
