See Something, Say Something
During the summer, waking up late is something I tend to take for granted. Damn, did I miss sleeping in. Guess what? I didn't nap today! I don't know if you know this, but I always end up asleep in the car.
Anyway, we saw yet another Paul Bunyan this morning. Why? We'll never know . . . On the way, though, we saw some amazing street murals and a statue of a viking. Fun fact: There is actually a Norway, Michigan.
The best part of our day, however, were the signs we saw and the quotes that out of context are . . . fishy. My favorite sign was probably this one:

What exactly does Moose mean? What does this store sell? The eternal struggle . . . we may never know.
Some of my personal favorite quotes include: "There's no internet erection" - Gideon regarding the lack of internet connection. "Nipworms" - Me, explanation mysteriously unprovided. And lastly: "(Florida is) really misleading because it's long but it's not very think at all." -Abby "That's what she said." -Mom.
Finally after much insanity on our parts, we got to the main attraction. The largest ball of twine. It was in the middle of some dude's backyard, and this dude's house was in the middle of nowhere. Bees were attacking the car like crazy. I was terrified. But we got out anyway and thank god we did. The dude that makes it was really more of the attraction than the twine was. He had a super robust personality and he was pretty funny. The ball wasa interesting too, but how cool can twine really be?
Although Dulouth is a little creepy and has the second highest metropolitan alcoholic rate of Minnesota (we checked.) the hotel was the nicest one we've stayed at yet. We found a restaurant just 10 minutes away from our Fairfield. Because I don't remember the name of the place, let's call it pinworms.
Update: Dad says its called Pickwick, but that ruins the fun.
Anyway, the portions there were outrageous, and the service was pretty slow, but the food was amazing. If you haven't noticed yet, I kinda like food . . .
Back at the hotel, Gideon was disappointed we couldn't go for a dip in the pool and that we didn't get any dessert. We planned a relax day later this week to fit in his swim, and got to bed at a decent time again to prepare for the treacherous journey to come.
