Death Prevention
This morning, we got one of my favorite breakfasts: Burger King french toast sticks. So good, I love them. They actually do hold up in quality from childhood, which is very surprising.
Shortly after breakfast, we reached our main attraction for the day: McFarland, California. It was, well, a town. We got a picture in front of the sign and then continued on our way.
The plan for the rest of the day was just for it to be a day of driving. We were in desperate need of an oil change, though, so we decided today might be a good day to get one. We stopped at a Valvoline, where we pulled in, they started changing the oil and then one of them showed up at our window. He said a bunch of nerdy stuff and then a few strings of numbers . . . essentially the car could use a whole bunch of other maintenance, and Mom and Dad decided to get the two most urgent of those things out of the way. Luckily, the Valvoline is where I've set up a tradition of filling out postcards, so we got a few of those done. Death prevention part one.
By the time we left the Valvoline, it was already noon. So much for that day, huh? We got some Checkers for lunch, mainly for Mom and Dad, but hey, it's good food so I wasn't about to complain.
I took one of my trademark after lunch naps and woke up just outside LA. Our goal was not to get out in LA because the Delta strain is big there. However, I did have to pee, and so did Mom. Before our bathroom break, we were intent on finding a small plaque that marks the start of historical route six. On our way off the exit to get there, the car three cars in front of us stopped entirely and drove through a bunch of cones back onto the highway. Meanwhile, all of us behind him came to a squealing stop. We were so close to hitting the car in front of us, we really almost died. Dad's little swerve to the side really saved us. Nice job Dad and Alicia, death prevention part two.
Anyway, we passed by where the plaque should be, but we couldn't find it. I was beginning to really have to pee, so we decided to move on. It took a while, but we found a Starbucks and decided to see if it had a bathroom. Me and Mom got out, threw away some trash, and approached the Starbucks. Mom pulled the door and it wouldn't budge. There was a man inside though that let us in. Apparently we used the side door. There was no restroom in there though, so we left through the other door. From there, we spotted a supermarket called El Super. We tried it there. There were bathrooms, no matter how disgusting they were. Mom said "We used the bathroom where the Delta strain started".
Back safely in the car, we called Guggie. It was great talking to her, and while we were we saw two people full mooning the entirety of LA.
Me and Gideon were really excited to get to the hotel and watch the newest episode of The Owl House, so we picked up In-n-out Burger to eat at the hotel so we could watch sooner. I hadn't tried them before, but animal fries? So good.
After dinner we watched The Owl House, which was just as I'd imagined. I also got to watch the new episode of another show, Miraculous, before going to bed finally at peace.
