Bearing the Bears

Today was a short and sweet drive, so we did a lot to entertain ourselves in between. We could have explored the Ancient Lore property more, but there wasn't that much avaliable to do immediately before or after 10 AM check out, so we checked out and left the property.

We needed an oil change so knew we had to get to a Jiffy Lube at some point today, but figured we could kill some more time first by going out for breakfast. One of Mom's favorites! We decided on a place that supposedly had really good french toast as well as benedicts, and they were as claimed! Delicious family breakfast. I think everyone had a bite of everyone else's meal.

Then was Jiffy Lube time. We had called Toyota earlier to verify what service was necessary, and they confirmed the car needed both an oil change and a tire rotation. Awesome, we confirmed Jiffy Lube does both. Only after the oil change did they mention that our car was too heavy for their lift (perhaps they had to weigh it and all our things in the trunk made a difference) so they could not do the tire rotation. Ok... well at least the important part got done.

Last night on the way to the hotel, we passed a sketchy looking building with the words "escape room" on it. We joked that escaping the building in and of itself was the room. But, in the cold light of day, Gideon looked at the reviews and decided he wanted to do it. Ok, guess we're driving to our deaths now.

The room was actually pretty awesome and had all kinds of puzzles that we had never seen before. It made me and Mom feel much more useful, as normally only Dad and Gideon do any of the solving in escape rooms.

After that it was on the way to the hotel. If you have been following us for quite a while, you may remember that way back on our first road trip we stayed at a hotel where most of the furniture was composed of carved black bears. At the time I had seen the movie Brave and decided (rightfully so) that some black bears were scary. I even had a nightmare in my bear bed that they came to life and started attacking me. So, of course, given the chance, my parents have to recreate such humiliation. Tonight was another black bear themed hotel. Admittedly, this one is much less intense and I am no longer scared of black bears.

I was absolutely exhausted for some reason, so we decided to order take-out for dinner, which Mom and Dad were so kind as to pick up for us while we started laundry. Pizza for me 😋!

I blogged while Gideon watched Paw Patrol, and then it was an early bed time for all.

Nice Deed of the Day: I ducked another Jeep! This one was really cool looking, called itself Disco Chicken, claimed it was gluten free (aren't all Jeeps?) and had this fire decal on it.
