Today we got up early to beat the crowds to a local breakfast restaurant, Crockett's Breakfast Camp. We got the biggest cinnamon roll you have ever seen!
After that, we began our journey down the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a convenient and scenic way to get to Shenandoah from Gatlinburg! We were even able to stop by the Great Smoky Mountain National Park visitor center to grab some collectibles that we weren't collecting the first time we visited! The drive was gorgeous and Gideon even drove a little!
Gideon drove us to a gas station and there were three claw machines. You know what we had to do. I won 5 ducks and a d20 out of one and Mom won 4 stuffed animals out of another.
Of course, nothing can ever be easy on this trip. The parkway had several closures that made it entirely inconvenient to continue following it when the interstate was calling our name. So at about 3, we switched to the interstate. This route is shorter than the parkway, so we had to replan our timing. There were only 4 hours left until Shenandoah from where we were, so we decided to turn in early for the day. We have tomorrow to make it the rest of the way.
We grabbed dinner at a barbeque place with delicious cheese biscuits, then convinced Mom and Dad to get me and Gideon fro-yo! It brought fond memories of college to my mind and stomach! Oh, and there was a funny little instance of environmental story telling at the dinner place.
We turned in to the hotel for the night, and hung out in Mom and Dad's room watching Gossip Girl and writing blogs.
Nice Deed of the Day: Mom handed out the stuffies she won to some kids in the gas station, and she also in-person ducked a Jeep.
