Adam's Blog July 25th, Day 20!

Today's only stop is Astoria, OR. The filming site for The Goonies. I am psyched to be heading here to see the town and area of one of my favorite movies. I have been in the area quite a few times on business and never had the time or ability to head out here. As we head out we decide to get a good breakfast so we stop at a joint called the Pig and Pancake. Although we didn't know it at the time, this is a local chain. The pancakes are pretty good and they have another of my favorites here, Marion berry syrup, but I decide for a skillet meal instead and am not disappointed.

We head off to Astoria afterwards and the drive on the way was really pretty as well. It was cool to go through the town and I consider stopping to see the houses from the film but I decide that I won't put the family through that. So after driving through the town and getting a brief look at some of the sites, we head off to Hillsboro where I go on business trips because for the first time since we left, I am in am area that I know pretty well and can actually male suggestions and take the family places.

First order of business, dinner. Courtney had been itching for sushi and there was a good joint there so after confirming that they serve udon for the kiddos, we decide to go there. This is a really cool place, see Court's blog for the name and URL. It is in the basement of what used to be the town library so the floorplan is kind of odd but it adds to the charm. Not to mention the sushi and grill here is great and if you enjoy Asian alcohol this place has a huge selection of sake, beers and even some shochu. Anyway, the dinner is great and we head back to the hotel for bed.
