Adam's Blog July 27th, Day 22!

The plan for today is to get some miles under our belt after driving old Route 30 through the Columbia River Gorge. Breakfast behind us, we pack in to van, get some gas and head out. On the drive out we can see the decapitated Mount Saint Helen.

As we pull off of the interstate and onto old Route 30, we are greeted by the local police attesting someone. Quite the scenic start! We continue on the drive and are greeted with a lot of beautiful scenery before we reach the actual gorge. After we are there, there are even more breathtaking views of the river but more importantly, waterfalls. I had visited Multnomah Falls one time previously and thought that they would enjoy the view so this was the fall that we stop and get out at. The road itself is very busy and the individual falls so far have been really busy as well, Multnomah was no exception to this. The pictures will show it better but the falls here have an upper and lower section and they are very pretty. We get out and walk around the grounds here for a bit and I keep hearing Abigail saying wow. In the end we ask her where the falls fit in her list of places we have been so far, she put it above the Painted Desert but below the Grand Canyon. Much better than I would have expected.

With that done we head out for Boise for the evening, with one quick stop in Washington to get a cache so that I have one in that state since it was a simple as crossing a bridge. The cache site there was interesting though. After you cross the bridge, you are in a very undeveloped area and there is a pull off immediately. Part of the way down the cliff there is a single grave site. A beautiful place for your eternal rest but also kind of odd to be all on your own. Anyway, a lot of driving, bickering between the kids and potty breaks later and we arrived in Boise for the evening.
