Adam's Blog August 3rd, Day 29

Nothing on the docket today but driving to the hotel and getting some of the laundry done that has been backing up. It's a good haul actually along the UP of Michigan, much longer than I remembered the last time that I came up this way with my family years ago. We get some lunch at A&W which is something else that I've been missing. A nice chili dog and corn dog nuggets later we are cruising along still.

Still a long haul in to the hotel from where we were, partially because there are sporatic downpours that slow down traffic considerably but we are pulling in to the city we plan on staying in in time for an early dinner. We were poking around on Yelp trying to find some place that sounded good when we see a sign for Big Boy. It's been a while since Courtney or I had eaten there so we decided why not have a walk down memory lane tonight. Gideon insisted on getting a picture with the "character" out in front and there was even a moose there painted up in the Big Boy color and stuff. I decided that I was tired of burgers so ordered some pasta for dinner. I quickly remembered why I should only order burgers there. Oh well!

We get to the hotel and check in and are informed that we have a view of Lake Huron from our room. We get there and sure enough, there's a balcony with a couple of plastic lawn chairs that look out over the lake and after the sun had set we could even see a lighthouse out on the island that we had in our vision. It was actually a pretty nice view and we all enjoyed it while resting up a bit instead of being on the road for a long day.
