Adam's Blog July 21st, Day 16!

Leaving Anaheim today to make it to Monterey. Things got off to a bit of a late start because of a needed supplies run and a diversion back to Luvin Donuts for breakfast. Finally moving and back in traffic again. So slow for a while but since we are heading up the PCH the view is amazing. The first stop planned for the day is Solvang but on our way there we drive past a scenic vista going over a mountain pass so we stop for the short walk and incredibly view. On to Solvang.

Solvang is a town where European immigrants missed home enough to attempt to make the whole town look Dutch. It is really a rather cute and quaint place with a lot of food and sights. All around the town are little windmills and other decor to fit the bill. We eat at a cafe for lunch and order some pastries for later. These end up being delicious.

We had out of Solvang and head of to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, home of McWay Waterfall. Along the way the highway starts to become its famous winding self offering some amazing views. We finally arriveat the park after a lot of twists and "Wow wow wow" and "I am so jealous of the people that live here" from Courtney. This is a beautiful place. The 80' waterfall empties directly into the ocean in a little cove. There was once a house here as well overlooking it but the owners left the house and moved to Florida, never to return. It is now just a foundation with some of the stronger supporting walls still in place.

We head off towards Monterey for the night now with Gideon doing his normal rambling and looking for a confirmation that what he just did out said was funny and Abigail getting increasingly annoyed by it. Ahh, siblings on a road trip. We have already had to play the "pretend that the other one doesn't exist" card a couple of this. Still, they are doing well.
